Conductor

The conductor of COCO manages the rehearsal process and leads the orchestra during the concert. The influence and interpretation of a conductor can be a determining factor in the producing an engaging recording of new music.

Brian McWhorter

Brian McWhorter, founder and conductor of Orchestra Next, will be rehearsing and conducting COCO for the 2018 season. As an established artist in a variety of roles from trumpet player to filmmaker, Brian McWhorter has consistently astonished and engaged his audiences through thought-provoking, collaborative, creative endeavors. 

McWhorter has been recognized for his artistic achievements by the New York Times, referring to him as "a minicelebrity for the creative process", and his devotion to art has taken his career internationally, with organizations such as Beta Collide, Meridian Arts Ensemble, and Pink Baby Monster. Under his direction, Orchestra Next produced it's first album,"The Snow Queen" by Kenji Bunch, with raving reviews by MusicWeb International and Audiophile Audition.

COCO

The Composers of Oregon Chamber Orchestra is a non-profit organization devoted to providing recording/performance opportunities of medium-large ensemble works for composers. The ensemble, made up of elite student performers, helps in the selection process for our call for scores, collaborating with the composers on their music and ensuring an effective performance.
